She readily opened her heart to us and it was a match made in heaven. Maggie is a 4 year old Blenheim Cavalier who loves everyone she meets.
The day we received Maggie was an amazing moment for all of us. I was told she was kept outside for most of the day and in her crate alone every night. She loves being inside of our home, cuddling and sleeping on the sofa so much that she runs back inside after all of our walks. It was easy to sense that she needed attention.
When she arrived it was obvious she didn’t know her name and she was hard of hearing. All I was told is that Maggie came from a place that could not care for her any longer. The minute I saw Maggie’s picture and read her story to Jeff and Emma, I knew we were the right family for her. We have a loving home that needs to be shared. When I found out that Maggie was in need of a home I knew that we needed to do something asap. The Cavaliers entrusted to them are evaluated for temperament, brought up to date medically, and cared for by their dedicated volunteers until a permanent, loving family is found to adopt them. The Cavalier Rescue USA is a national, foster home based, non-profit organization that is dedicated to finding loving families for Cavaliers who are in need of new homes. I knew if I ever adopted again, it would have to be a special situation. It made getting away so much harder and more of an inconvenience. I’ve never been a fan of kennels so I’ve always had to beg family or friends to babysit. To be honest, I’m one of those owners who cares so much about their pet (Jeff would say a bit too much, Lol) it’s hard for me to leave on vacation without stressing over who will take care of them.
Cal was so loving and gentle with everyone I didn’t think I could ever ‘replace” him with another dog.
With Emma being an only child our pets have always become members of our family. I have to say that this had to be one of the hardest moments for our little family. Many of you may already be familiar with our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cal who passed away two years ago. I’m so excited to finally share our story with you about our new little adopted Cavalier rescue, Maggie.
